Objectives:
1) This subject allows me to understand the background, principles and practices and information systems of financial management in relation to construction industry.
2) This subject allows me to appraise capital investment proposals in the construction industry.
3) This subject allows me to understand the management of construction organization in terms of managing the business environment, the firm and the staff.

Learning Outcome:
Through the study of this subject,
1) I am able to identify the appropriateness of financial management systems for different construction projects and implement the accountancy principles and practices in examining the construction company’s finances and accounts.
2) I am able to define the appropriate cost control structure and technology in ensuring the quality management and total quality management (TQM) of the entire construction performance. 
3) I am able to apply capital investment techniques in analyzing the cost & benefit for particular construction projects.
4) I am able to manipulate the sound knowledge of financial management in managing the financial aspects of the particular construction project.
5) I am able to outline the business of construction project through proper strategic management theory and techniques.

1) Introduction with the executive summary of company including company milestone.

Building Economic (QSB 3214)

Objectives:
1) This subject allows me to study and explore an awareness of the nature, content and significance of cost control, cost planning and understand the roles of project teams towards fulfilling client's requirements.
2) This subject provides me a chance to study and explore awareness of the effect of design variables in obtaining an economical design and to appreciate the role of the quantity surveyor in pre and post contract stage.

Learning Outcome:
Through the study of this subject,
1) I am able to identify the role and responsibilities of Quantity Surveyors in the overall development process and to match the relationship between cost and design to a value outcome.
2) I am able to explain various methods of pre-tender estimating. 
3) I am able to outline the importance of cost studies to enhance the role of Quantity Surveyor in the development process.
4) I am able to produce an estimate at pre-tender stage, cost plan based on historical data and S-curve for financial planning to a proposed project.

Measurement 5 (QSB 3115)

Objectives:
1) This subject allows me to study and explore the importance of preparation of Tender Document and the importance of the ability to work effectively with group mates to complete the assignments.
2) This subject provides me a chance to investigate and explore subject knowledge on the principles of measurement of various  elements.
3) This subject enables me to develop the skill of making decision and management skills related to Quantity Surveying profession in the preparation of Bills of Quantities.

Learning Outcome:
Through the study of this subject,
1) I am able to identify the items measurable for cold water and sanitary plumbing, electrical installation and M&E works and civil engineering works.
2) I am able to differentiate and explain the difference in writing up descriptions in accordance to design changes of cold water and sanitary plumbing, electrical installation and M&E works and civil engineering works.
3) I am able to evaluate the relationship between specifications, drawings and Bill of Quantities in Tender Documents for cold water and sanitary plumbing, electrical installation and M&E works and civil engineering works.
4) I am able to prepare the measurement for cold water sanitary plumbing, electrical installation and M&E works and civil engineering works in accordance to Standard Method of Measurement (SMM2) and Malaysian Civil Engineering Standard Method of Measurement (MYCESMM).

Brief:

We are going to form a group which consists of 5 persons and prepare a complete measurement including the Bills of Quantities of the Electrical Works for the 2 storey bungalow house covering:
a) Sub-main cable from the TNB meter to the Distribution Board.
b) Final sub-circuits for the various lighting, fan & AC points and socket outlets.
c) Electrical accessories such as switches, socket outlets.
d) Any other related electrical works not included in the above.


Objective:

1) To extend and refine skills relating to the measurement and description of building works.
2) To develop an awareness of the nature, content, and significance of tendering and contractual documents.
3) To have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the Standard Method of Measurement in taking–off quantities.
4) To develop an understanding of the principles of measurement in preparing the Bills of  Quantities and Specification writing.

Learning Outcome:

1) Recognize the items measurable for electrical installation works.
2) Explain and interpret clauses in the SMM2  for the various trades in relation to the above works. 
3) Demonstrate a systematic and orderly mind and be able to visualize the drawings and details given.
4) Evaluate the relationship between Specifications , Drawings and Bills of Quantities
5) Produce measurement for Electrical Installation Works in accordance to SMM 2
6) Generate a conceptual understanding of and the ability to competently carry out the preparation of the Bills of Quantities for the above mentioned works.

Professional Practice 2 (QSB 9614)

Lecturer: Sr Ng Kai Seng

This subject provides an overview of professional and contractual responsibilities of a quantity surveyor in the consultant group from the design stage to the final account stage. It will focus on the importance of a clear understanding of the organization and administration of quantity surveyor practices and the legal and contractual procedures in relation to building procurement

Objectives:
1) This subject allows me to appreciate the role of Quantity Surveying profession in public or private sectors.
2) This subject enables me to understand the appointment and the roles of Quantity Surveyor in the pre-contract and post-contract stage, tendering methods and procedures, evaluation and reporting of tenders and contract choices.
3) This subject develops awareness of the provisions of the Standard Contract forms related to construction period, insurances, Liquidated and Ascertained Damages, performance bonds, retention sums and other clauses forming basis of contract.

Learning Outcome:
Through the study of this subject,
1) I am able to define the qualifications (academic and professional) required of a Quantity Surveyor, its professional Institution and Board.
2) I am able to describe the duties of a Quantity Surveyor.
3) I am able to identify the roles of various parties involved in the building team and their construction contracts and contractual obligations.
4) I am able to evaluate the array of construction contracts between the client and the main contractor.
5) I am able to evaluate the array of construction contracts between the main contractor with the 
sub-contractor.

Assignment 1:

Objectives:
This assignment allows me to go into a greater depth of the meanings of these technical terms. It also consolidates what I had learnt in construction technology, principles of structure and properties of materials.

Learning Outcome:
Through this assignment, I explored, investigated and understood the meaning of technical terms and it will  increase my confidence level when I graduate. This knowledge will be applied to hold conversation and talk intelligently with technical people in the construction industry.

Objectives:
This assignment allows me to study and understand the different types of certificate issued by the Architect according to PAM 2006 Contract. It also enables me to learn the role of Quantity Surveyor during the issuance of the certificates.

Learning Outcome:
Through this assignment, I investigated the different types of certificate issued by the Architect. They are Interim Certificate, Certificate of Practical Completion, Certificate of Extension of Time, Certificate of Non-Completion, Certificate of Making Good Defects, Penultimate Certificate and Final Certificate. Besides, I studied and investigated the purpose, timing, contractual effects, and failure of issuance of the certificates by Architect.
