Building Economic (QSB 3214)

Objectives:
1) This subject allows me to study and explore an awareness of the nature, content and significance of cost control, cost planning and understand the roles of project teams towards fulfilling client's requirements.
2) This subject provides me a chance to study and explore awareness of the effect of design variables in obtaining an economical design and to appreciate the role of the quantity surveyor in pre and post contract stage.

Learning Outcome:
Through the study of this subject,
1) I am able to identify the role and responsibilities of Quantity Surveyors in the overall development process and to match the relationship between cost and design to a value outcome.
2) I am able to explain various methods of pre-tender estimating. 
3) I am able to outline the importance of cost studies to enhance the role of Quantity Surveyor in the development process.
4) I am able to produce an estimate at pre-tender stage, cost plan based on historical data and S-curve for financial planning to a proposed project.

Objective:

1) To learn how to amend the cost plan of the building designs.
2) To investigate and learn the effect of the change of design towards the cost plan.
3) To study and investigate the types of procurement used in the industry.

Learning Outcome:

Through this assignment,
1) I am able to learn the importance of cost plan for a Quantity Surveyor.
2) I am able to advise the clients by giving opinion on the types of procurement used for the project. 
3) I am able to prepare the cost plan.
